In part 2 of our oral cancer series, we want to discuss some of the signs you may notice if you develop oral cancer.
Almost 42,000 people are diagnosed with oral and throat cancer each year, according to the ADA. The easiest way to detect oral cancer is through screenings and examinations, which we discussed in part 1.
Besides screenings, there are some signs that you should be aware of, which include:
Irritation in the mouth and throat
Trouble speaking, chewing and eating
Red or white patches in your mouth
Teeth begin to shift
Pain or soreness in the mouth, lips or tongue
If you experience any of these and they do not go away after two weeks, it is important to schedule an appointment immediately.
Do you need an oral cancer screening?
